Dave Olson
Prison Minister
Dave was born in Twenty Nine Palms, California, and moved to Alaska with his family when he was twelve years old. He grew up and attended school in Chugiak, Alaska. Dave worked for many years in the hardware and automotive equipment industries. In 1998 he started his own remodeling and maintenance business.
Dave was converted to Christ in 1996 after meeting his future wife, Marianna. He got involved in prison ministry in 1998 and was hooked after his first visit to the local jail class. Dave now teaches several weekly Bible classes and oversees the church’s volunteer efforts around much of the state of Alaska. Dave and Marianna have facilitated a weekly Christians Against Substance Abuse (C.A.S.A.) support group since 2001 and are the Alaska Directors for the NewLife Behavior Ministries.
In September of 2003, the elders added Dave to the staff of the Anchorage Church of Christ as the part-time prison minister. In January of 2007, he accepted the offer to serve as the prison minister in a full-time capacity.
The leadership of the Anchorage Church of Christ is extremely supportive of the prison ministry and the congregation was honored to host the National Jail/Prison Ministry Workshop in 2004.
Dave has directed senior week at Midnight Sun Bible Camp since 2007 and is on the advisory board for the camp.
