Vision
(Proverbs 29:19 KJV)
It may read a little differently in your Bible:
“If a nation is not guided by God, the people will lose self control”
(Easy-to-Read Version)
“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint”
(New International Version)
“Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained”
(New American Standard Version)
It really doesn’t make a lot of difference how you translate this verse. The message still comes through. If we stop listening or looking to the Lord for our direction, then we are headed for destruction!!
If you are talking about “VISION,” (as how well your eyes work), then Americans lead the world in “seeing well.” If you are talking about how we are doing in seeing the direction the Lord has shown for His church, well, we are falling short.
“…I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest” (John 4:35).
“…The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matthew 9:37).
In the Old Testament story of Esther, as queen she was faced with a difficult decision. Mordecai, Esther’s uncle, reasoned with her and said, “…who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14). I understand that there are many feelings that are involved when we talk about sharing the Gospel with others. I want to borrow the Mordecai's question. Whether it’s your neighbor, co-worker, friend, or relative, “who knows but that you have come to this position for such a time as this?”
IF YOU DON’T TELL THEM…WHO WILL?
