Women
The Women's Activity Committee organizes two to three ladies' nights where the women have an opportunity for fellowship, a devotional, and incorporating the Secret Prayer Sister Program.
They organize some craft days for the ladies to come learn new crafts or work on current ones they are involved in.
They also organize a Holiday Tea and Ornament Exchange the first of December.
Ladies' Night & Begin New Secret Sisters Session
On a rainy evening, about twenty ladies gathered for Ladies' Night. The homemade hot soups, bread, salad, and desserts were delicious. Ann Vasakis broadened her experience and led us in singing and Marlene Coffman shared thoughts on how each of us is an influene on other people, acquaintances and strangers alike. Ann did a wonderful job and Marlene challenged us to keep in mind that we each have the responsibility to make sure our influence on others is positive.
Many of the ladies present signed up to be secret sisters. This session will continue through April 27 and it isn't too late to join this time. Just pick up an information sheet from the table in the foyer or the Communication Bulletin Board. Complete your information sheet and place it in the envelope on the Communication Board no later than Wednesday, January 28. You will receive the name of yur prayer sister the following Sunday, February 1. For additional information, contact Patsy Smith.
Ladies' Retreat Forms Ready
The registration forms for the 2009 Ladies' Retreat are ready for pick-up. You will find them in the song book racks and on the table in the foyer. We invite all women and high girls to get one, fill it out, and give it to one of the church secretaries or Verneta Wallace.
Because of budget constraints, there is a $5.00 charge for the retreat so please turn in your money with your registration. There are scholarships available, so if you need one, just check the appropriate place on your registration form.

“A House that Belongs to God"
Formerly identified with the Anchorage Church of Christ, Dana Grubb, from San Antonio, Texas, will be our speaker. She is a mother, military wife, architect and a published author. Her book Changed by Jesus may be purchased for $15.00 or 2 for $25.00.
During this special time, we will be sharing with our sisters through fellowship, Special Moments, prayer requests and Moonlight Madness. Plan now to be part of this year’s event. We ask you to join with the members of the committee in praying for the success of this retreat and we encourage you to invite your sisters and friends. ASL interpreting will be provided.
Dress is casual, so plan to be comfortable. You do not have to stay overnight at the building, but two rooms will be provided for those who want to. One room is “lights out” at 11:00, and the other is at 2:00. If you are sleeping at the church building, remember to bring a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow, toiletries, and any personal essentials you’ll need.
This is a great time to encourage your husband to spend some extra special time with your children. This is also a good time for husbands to support women who need child care during the weekend.
This retreat is for women, high school age and up. Based upon past evaluations, the elders request there be no children in attendance.
You may order all the talks on one CD for $1.00 and pick it up on Sunday, February 19 or we will mail it to you.
There is a $5.00 registration fee. However, if that is a hindrance, scholarships are available. Your early registration helps us with the planning for food and supplies for everyone. Dinner and check-in will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday. If you have not registered in advance, you may do so at that time. The retreat will end at approximately 4:00 PM on Saturday.
Complete the registration form and return it and your $5.00 to Anchorage Church of Christ, 2700 DeBarr Rd., Anchorage, AK 99508-2978, fax it to 907-272-7586, e-mail it to project@gci.net, or give it to Verneta Wallace or one of the Anchorage church secretaries. You may also register on-line. Due to extra fees, the online registration states that the retreat is free. However, the $5.00 retreat fee applies to everyone. If you do register on-line, fax, or e-mail your form, you may pay when you arrive.
